Patricia’s Patches OP 21, 22 from Virtual Quilter

Very interesting, and not my usual taste of colour combination for me to play with.

Second design is also interesting.

I like it! Apart from the star block. Cannot believe I didn’t notice that before I saved the design.

The other blocks and the quilting motifs are a collection of old style applique in old fashioned colours, but with a bit of a twist here and there.

The pieced blocks in the second design do not include the rogue star which appeared in the first.

Love the first design for today.

Second design is interesting too.

Patricia’s Patches OP 9, 10 from Virtual Quilter

On point setting, quilting motifs based on applique blocks filing empty spaces.

That’s the way I like to see quilts.

What I don’t like seeing are pieced and applique blocks quilted over with an unrelated motif which does nothing to show off the block designs.

I love the stars in the outer row of the fist design, and around the centre.

Love all of the second design, though I would replace the stars with the ones I like from the frist design.

This project file uses the same blocks as yesterday’s designs, but with different fabrics and set on point.

Not many of the blocks are repeated in these particular quilt designs, but I love that they look so different with the different fabrics and the different setting.

Regular visitors have probably noticed that I have a preference for rather old fashioned style quilt designs … and the one above is one of them.

Too many pieces, not enough applique in the second one, but I do like the quilting motifs based on applique designs.

I like the way the pieced blocks fade around the outer points in teh last design for today.

I like the design, and the colours even though I think they would look like Christmas all through the year, but then a little bit of Christmas everyday would be nice.

The second design has me thinking that a simple pieced star block in low contrast fabrics would make a very interesting background for applique blocks. I feel a new project file is about to be opened, though an alternative approach would be to use the star shape as background quilting around the applique!

Love the inner border … breaks up an otherwise busy collection of blocks.

Love the second design too.

Interesting collection of blocks crates some contrast of shapes when mixed together.

I like mixing pieced and applique blocks together, and though as a beginner quilter I used sashing or different colour backgrounds to make them stand apart, I now prefer to use the same fabric around the edge of pieced blocks and the background for the applique block so they appear as part of the same design.

Same as the first … except for those four pieced blocks around the centre. My favourite is this last one.
